The Wind River Indian Reservation, covering a vast 2,268,000 acres is the home of two tribes’ Eastern Shoshone & Northern Arapaho. There are 1,888,000 acres of private Indian owned land. A vast wilderness area covers some 180,387 acres. This area, plus lower lying land along the Big Wind River and its tributaries provide some of the best fishing in Wyoming.

What is the difference between Resident and Non-Resident?

A Resident is any person who lives in the State of Wyoming.  A Non-Resident is someone who lives in another state.

What is a Recreation Stamp?

Permit holders are required to purchase one Recreation Stamp per year.  The Recreation Stamp fee is used for improving, developing and maintaining recreational facilities such as boat ramps, restroom facilities, picnic areas, etc.

What are the “Open Waters” seasons?

The follow waters open January 1st close September 30th (annually):

  1. Bull Lake & Lower Bull Lake
  2. Upper & Lower Dinwoody Lakes and Dinwoody Creek below Upper Dinwoody Lake to its confluence of the Wind River

Waters that open April 1st close September 30th (annually):

  1. Washakie Reservoir
  2.  Wind River, excluding Wind River Canyon
  3.  Down from the confluence of the Popo Agie and Little Wind River

Waters that open June 1st close September 30th (annually):

  1.  All roadless area lakes and streams
  2.  Moccasin Lake
  3.  Upper Bull Lake Creek above the inlet of the lake
  4.  South Fork of the Little Wind River (above Washakie Reservior) above the second campground

Who is a considered a Non-member?
